Scope notes: Includes: Organizations that promote international understanding and friendly relations among nations; foster an exchange of ideas on international affairs and globalization; preserve world peace; protect national and cooperative security interests; foster international human rights; promote international economic, social and political development; foster exchanges of scholars scientists artists, journalists and other professionals; and raise and distribute funds for the benefit of overseas institutions (e.g., Friends of the American University in Rome).
Organizations that promote harmony and understanding among nations either globally or in a particular region of the world and/or engage in activities that promote peaceful ways of managing and settling international conflicts. Use this code for organizations that promote international peace in a general way or which have specific programs devoted to international peace and security other than those specified below.
